Congratulations to Alyssa SooklaI, PE, a Water Resources Engineer II in our Baltimore office for being selected as the 2022 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Maryland Section, Young Civil Engineer of the Year! The award is given to younger members who demonstrate superior achievement and dedication to their profession.
“I am grateful and honored to be chosen as ASCE Maryland's Young Civil Engineer of the Year for 2022,” said Alyssa. “It is a pleasure to serve ASCE on the Younger Member, Section, and National levels. The opportunities that I have been given as a member of ASCE have been instrumental in my growth as an engineer and young professional. Two of my long-term goals are to inspire & mentor the next generations of civil engineers, and better the civil engineering industry in some capacity, and I appreciate ASCE for providing a space for me to do so.”
In addition to this award, Alyssa earned two additional honors earlier this year, including: the ASCE National Outstanding Younger Member in Community Activities Award and the ACEC Maryland, Young Professional of the Year Award. Alyssa has been a member of ASCE since 2017 and has served as the Secretary of the Younger Member Group since 2021. Read more about her role as Secretary here.
