McCormick Taylor’s municipal group from our Exton office attended the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS) Annual Educational Conference from April 18-19 in Hershey, PA. The PSATS organization allows township officials from across Pennsylvania to come together and work towards a common goal of preserving and strengthening township government.
PSATS provides support for townships by lobbying state and federal lawmakers and educating and informing its members through workshops and award-winning publications. The PSATS conference is the organization’s premier event and is attended by several of our municipal clients, including Westtown, Penn, Tredyffrin, Pocopson, West Brandywine, and Franklin Townships. The conference also presents an opportunity for our municipal group to spend valuable time with clients in a more relaxed setting.
Led by municipal group leader Kevin Matson, our staff attends PSATS annually to meet with township officials and ensure McCormick Taylor stays apprised of the current state regulations and upcoming changes in our client municipalities. Our professionals regularly attend and present engineering topics at the conference that highlight engineering solutions, practices, and regulations or recommendations that will assist local governments in planning for a positive future and greater Pennsylvania.
This year, Andy Parker presented “Traffic Calming for Municipalities.” Officials are challenged with providing safe pedestrian networks throughout their municipality. Andy’s presentation highlighted traffic calming solutions that guide municipalities towards intelligent roadway design and pedestrian networks.
Nick Szeredai presented “LongTerm Road Maintenance Planning and Stormwater Management Inventory.” Nick’s presentation assisted municipalities in long-term planning for annual road maintenance programs by demonstrating the value of performing a comprehensive assessment of the entire municipally owned roadway system, and then prioritizing maintenance needs.
