JOSEPH A. THOMPSON, PE PROMOTED TO DIRECTOR, STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

McCormick Taylor is excited to announce the expansion of our leadership group with the promotion of Joseph A. Thompson, PE to Director, Structural Engineering. This promotion is a testament to Joe’s immense contributions to McCormick Taylor and our clients, as well as, the company’s continued dedication to growth and expertise in our structural engineering practice.  

 

As McCormick Taylor’s Director of Structural Engineering, Joe will oversee the companywide management of our structural engineering design staff and their workload. As a well-known subject matter expert for structural engineering, his role will focus on quality project delivery, the development and advancement of our structural engineering staff, and collaboration with other discipline Directors to help drive the overall company initiatives and goals. Joe’s 35-year career in transportation, including 22 years with McCormick Taylor has ranged from the design of many different bridge types and complexities, to project management and business development. His knowledge and ability to design, review, and deliver projects according to Federal and Department standards is exceptional and is highly valued by his colleagues.

In his new role, Joe will continue to grow and oversee more than 25 structural designers and engineers located across the company and provide key project input and oversight on McCormick Taylor’s most innovative and challenging projects. Over his career, Joe has honed his leadership and communication skills through some of the company’s most notable endeavors including numerous PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission projects. When asked what energizes him about his work, Joe noted that he thoroughly enjoys “the challenge” that each project presents.

 

Joe is a Professional Engineer in eight states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Florida. He is a proud graduate of Penn State University and is a member of the Harrisburg Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers and the Susquehanna Chapter of the Association for Bridge Construction and Design.
