POMPTON LAKES TRANSIT ACCESS STUDY

THE CHALLENGE

Pompton Lakes Borough has a rich history as the economic and cultural hub of the New Jersey Highlands. The Borough’s proximity to New York, expansive views from the mountains, and the natural beauty of three rivers traversing the community led Pompton Lakes to become an attractive location for economic and residential development.

The purpose of the Pompton Lakes Transit Access Study was to provide an analysis of transit demand and explore the scale and types of potential transit services that would support the short-, medium-, and long-term development needs in the Pompton Lakes Downtown Redevelopment Area.

HOW WE HELPED

Our scope included developing a transit survey and origin/destination profile for existing and potential transit users. The survey results provided information on origins and destinations within surrounding trade areas along with the travel needs of existing and potential transit riders.

RESULTS

The findings of the Transit Access Study were used to explore strategies and inform decision-making by stakeholders, including where and how to establish transit park-and-rides in Pompton Lakes and to modify and supplement transit routes to accommodate demand.
