Congratulations to Ishtiak Ahmed, PhD, PE, PTOE of our Raleigh, NC office, who was appointed as a Young Member of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Highway Capacity and Quality of Service (HCQS) Standing Committee.
The HCQS Committee was founded in 1944 and is one of the oldest and most active TRB committees. The HCQS Committee is the primary overseer for research and enhancement of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and has delivered numerous enhancements to the guidelines over the years. Ishtiak’s appointment to the HCQS Committee is a 3-year voluntary appointment which he was excited to accept.
"I have enjoyed working with the committee a lot in the last seven years as a Friend of the committee," said Ishtiak. "I am eager to contribute more to advancing methodologies that help us improve the performance of our roadway system."
TRB is a widely respected and influential organization in the transportation industry, known for its objective research, interdisciplinary approach, and impact on policy and practice. The organization is one of seven program units of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, which provides “independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conducts other activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions”.
